intro knit ramblings

k, so i just started this in an attempt to keep track of the various projects i have done or am doing or will be doing...
hmmm, first started learning to knit in late november/early december 2005 (real smart - right before finals...)
first project was a scarf - done in k1p1 ribbing using caron's simply soft grey heather and red heart super saver claret. too bad red heart and simply soft don't exactly knit to the same gauge even though technically they're both worsted-weight. oh well...
i think my next project was an irish hiking scarf in simply soft grey heather - still haven't finished it... as of today it's about 43" long... not quite sure what length i'm aiming for, but i tend to like my scarves long...
some other things i've done - i've actually made a couple beanies using the london beanie pattern. of course, i've had to adjust the patterns a bit cuz i knit tightly so my gauge is off
i've also made an oakland a's beanie as well as a sj sharks beanie. they are both based on the london beanie pattern, but i made cuffed brims to change things up a bit.
of everything i've done so far, my biggest (and most favorite) project is a harry potter prisoner of azkaban/goblet of fire house scarf in ravenclaw movie colors. i used the pattern from atypically.knit and knit it with lion brand wool-ease in navy and grey heather. i'm in mad love with the scarf, even though this year's winter in sd has proven completely scarf unfriendly. actually, me wanting an hp house scarf is actually the reason i learned to knit. i love scarves in general, so after seeing the scarves in the movies, i became obsessed. well, now i can make my own, haha!
so just a couple days ago i finished a hat and wristwarmers set. the hat is based on ginny's orange hat from the goblet of fire. i used this pattern but actually altered it quite a bit. i used caron perfect match in cream and super saver in monet for the accents. the wristwarmers i kinda came up with on my own.
oooh, and almost forgot... i've also made a couple of mini sweater ornaments, mostly because of the idea of weasley sweaters.
if only i had a digital camera (besides my camera phone) - then i'd post pictures of my projects... maybe sometime in the future, i guess
